Hosting a Baby Shower – Fun and Games
Games at a baby shower are a good ice breaker. Play some games and have some laughs.
You have a lot to cram in to the 2 or 3 hours of the shower. Your guest will want to socialize with the new mom , have snacks and beverages and watch the gift opening. This doesn’t leave a lot of time for game play, so 3 or 4 games would be sufficient.
Short simple games is what you are looking for. Playing games that can keep your guests seated are ideal, especially if you are limited for space.
Prizes for the winners are not necessary , but certainly your choice.
If you decide to get prizes, keep them simple….candles, soaps, bath salts or chocolates. You will only need 3 or 4 depending on how many games you are playing
My Water Broke!!
This is fun and easy. Purchase tiny baby dolls at a dollar store, craft store or party supply store. Put them in ice cube trays, fill with water and freeze. Give each guest a glass of water with a baby ice cube in it and they have to melt the ice as fast as they can, whatever means they can. The first one to free their baby from the ice and yell out “MY WATER BROKE!” is the winner.
I Got You Babe!
Give each guest a sheet of paper and pen or pencil. The object of this game is to write down as many song titles as they can think of that contain the word Babe or Baby. Set a timer for 5 minutes. The person with the most correct answers (not made up songs!) at the end of the time is the winner.
Guests will each need pen and paper for this game. Get a serving tray or platter and put about 10 to 15 objects on it. They can be anything….a paper clip, safety pin, pen, eraser, etc. Any little items you have handy. Place the tray in the center of your guests and tell them they have 1 minute to memorize the items on the tray, When the minute is up, take the tray out of the room and have them write down what was on it. The person that has correctly guessed the most items wins.
If you do an online search for printable baby shower games you will be amazed at the results. This is the all time easiest. There are many free printable games with excellent graphics. All you need is a computer, printer and some paper, choose pink, blue or yellow paper for printing them up or a combination of all 3. If you don’t have a printer ask a friend or family member to do it for you.
